On January 9th, 2012, Matthew A. Linde was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. What is interesting about the federal courts is that an attorney licensed in a state must separately apply to each federal court that the individual intends to practice in front of. The U.S. Supreme Court is necessary not only because it hears discretionary appeals from federal courts, but also because the U.S. Supreme Court is generally the only court that hears appeals from the various state supreme courts.
